PROJECT MATS:
Merger, Acquisition, Transition & Succession
by

Message from the Executive Director:
Our industry is aging rapidly. Fewer accounting graduates are pursuing careers in public accounting. Succession for those that give their professional careers in service to both individuals and business in the tax and accounting profession is an increasing concern.
The IAAM has represented your interests and been your voice for more than 60 years. We are now taking that commitment to a new level.
We are proud to announce IAAM is the very first accounting association in the United States to provide a service dedicated to educating its members on merger, acquisition, transition or succession of your tax and accounting practice.
Our never-ending quest to provide our members with knowledge and education about all subjects of interest has led us to launch PROJECT MATS: Merger, Acquisition, Transition & Succession. PROJECT MATS is dedicated to help IAAM members build practice value, gain knowledge of current trends in our industry with regard to merger, acquisition or succession, develop a succession or acquisition plan and ultimately realize a significant financial reward for years of service, sacrifice and contribution.

PROJECT MATS is an on-demand service providing expert advice, consultation, information, case studies and succession services, if desired, for IAAM members.
We, at the IAAM, encourage you to review the articles, content and strategies provided in this module in the hopes you will be better prepared to plan a timely and rewarding succession or transition. In addition, we encourage you to seek expert advice or counsel from the module, "Ask the Experts."
Accounting Transition Advisors (ATA), one of the nation’s premier merger, acquisition, transition and succession consulting firms provides the content, advice and articles. ATA works closely with many state societies providing CPE and education exclusively on merger, acquisition, transition and succession exclusively within the accounting profession. Additionally, ATA has been consultants to more than 950 affiliations of accounting firms nationwide. Mr. Lon Goforth, Managing Director and Mr. Bill McPherson, Regional Director, Accounting Transition Advisors both reside in Michigan and have agreed to make themselves available to answer questions you may have regarding succession, transition or to provide an evaluation of your practice. Mr. Goforth may be reached by calling 248-437-4401 and Mr. McPherson at 734-429-1429; emails sent to lgoforth@transitionadvisors.com or wmcpherson@transitionadvisors.com .
